Biography
Marika is not your typical classical violinist. With 25 years of classical training under her belt, her continuous motivation and ability to mix the classical sound of the violin with a variety of genres is what sets her apart from fellow musicians. Mostly playing hip hop, pop and rnb but it doesn’t stop there. Her oriental and Eastern European origins convey to any tune she compose's or remixes a unique sound. She has performed in Canada, France, Australia, and Israel. During the pandemic, Marika has learned how to produce her own beats, and has now completed a project of 6 songs that combine her voice, her beats and her violin virtuosity. The project is called ''All Strings Attached'' and touches on different areas and themes of her life that are dear to her heart, like the passion to dance and perform, her family and love.
Inspirations
Marika’s love for the violin is deeply rooted in her rich and diverse musical upbringing. Growing up, she was immersed in the world of classical music, developing a strong technical foundation and an appreciation for its timeless beauty. Her French mother introduced her to the soulful melodies of French chanson, while her Anglophone father shared the energy and emotion of rock classics. This eclectic mix shaped her musical identity, inspiring her to blend genres and create performances that resonate with a wide range of audiences. Marika’s passion for music extends to pop and salsa, the latter being especially close to her heart as an avid salsa dancer with over a decade of experience. Her vibrant energy and rhythmic intuition, honed on the dance floor, bring a unique dynamism to her violin performances, making every moment unforgettable.
